Lanteglos Church

Lanteglos Church, nr Camelford, Cornwall

Lanteglos nr Camelford

The church is on its own with no settlement. It has a large circular enclosure with a spring pouring through the boundary wall into a pool.

It was our second visit here and as I could find no write up on my website, I wondered if I'd overlooked it somehow. However, the church itself seems to be a bit of a museum to people and aristocracy as the church was built by the local manor.  Yet it is dedicated to St Julietta and her holy well is nearby just across the valley. The large lan and even the name of the site Lanteglos, suggests an earlier Christian site.

I spent a short time worshipping in the quiet but couldn’t settle or really engage with God, which was disappointing, so we moved on to St Adwenna’s church nearby.
