Pilgrimage

Pushing in to Pilgrimage

Pushing in to Pilgrimage

Starting this pilgrimage

Hey ho, deep breath

Driving, driving, driving to get there

Busy, so busy

Cars whizzing

Noises crashing

Screeching, churning, wheeling, groaning

Yet

Stuck in the bumper to bumper fume-filled queue

A warbling trill rises on the air

A darling blackbird singing his life tune

Unashamed

Unaffected

Bold in his being

My ear tuned in

The noise tuned out

Basking in his sonorous voice trilling joy

Deep breath

Not far now

I can stop

Completely stop

Turn my ear to listen, then to hear

The heartbeat song of God once more

Breathe out

It is coming

I will step off this treadmill, to be enfolded once more in Love
