Light a candle

I light a candle for myself

it seemed fitting

it seemed right

to set a light before my eyes

that reflects

my flickering faith

yearning to burn

brighter

Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has never put it out

Dancing light

life of power and heat

capturing my gaze

captivating my longing heart

May heaven see

my tiny act of faith

and respond to this

flickering, faith-filled act

of love for You my Saviour

as I draw near with

my tiny step
