Glendalough Monastery, Wicklow Mountains, Ireland was founded by St Kevin. A beautiful site, set nestled beside two lakes with rising mountains on either side. It's a typical hidden, remote location which the Celtic monks favoured. This became a good sized monastic community and Kevin would withdraw to live beside the upper lake, away from the main settlement. His prayer cell site and hermit's cave are still there today.

It is special to pray in Kevin's prayer cell, sensing God in this amazing 'thin' place.
